Guayabitos Pickleball Club BoardPresident’s Message - November 5, 2024

On behalf of myself and the board, I wanted to extend a warm WELCOME to our returning members and those who are new to our club. We look forward to meeting everyone at the courts.

The board has been busy over the summer working behind the scenes to ensure another successful season. Bryce has posted the results of our summer

survey and an update on the board’s activities on our website. I am proud of the progress we are making, especially when it comes to adapting to

change and streamlining many of our systems.

Based on the number of people already playing, we are expecting a busy pickleball season. Just a reminder, that our new season started November 1 with Collectors on site to collect fees. It would be appreciated if you could come prepared with the correct change. Fee schedules are posted and

remain the same as last year.

We require all new members to complete the online registration, preferably before arriving at the courts. On the other hand, if you previously registered online, you do NOT have to register again. Online registration is a one time thing and done!

Our court allocations and level of play format has changed slightly this year based on member feedback from the club survey. All club information, including: fees, play levels, policies and rules are posted online and at the courts. Please review the club policies and rules to ensure everyone experiences both fun and challenging play at their appropriate skill level. Check the level's description to ensure you can achieve the required skills on an average of 8/10 times (depending on each level). If the ball is always being played to you and you are consistently only scoring a couple of points, this may be an indication that you are playing at the wrong level. “Playing up” doesn’t give the other players at that level the opportunity to have competitive play especially when the courts are busy and there is an increased waiting period.

We have introduced a “Court Host” position this year based on member feedback. The Court Host will assist with court flow during the busiest times. Please respect the Host’s judgement, they are volunteering their time for everyone’s benefit. Keep in mind that it will take some time for all of us to get into a new groove, so be patient. As a side note, all players are required to bring their own balls and should have one in hand upon entering the court.

I am very appreciative of the volunteers who have already stepped forward to support the club and take some of the pressure off the board. With that said, the club volunteer calendar has some openings and is still looking for volunteers in all areas.  Please reach out if you can assist in any capacity.  To ensure a successful year for all, seasonal member support is essential. We are all here to enjoy our time in the sun so let’s work together to make this a great season.

Team Work makes the Dream Work!

See you on the courts!
