President’s Message

The number of players on the courts are dwindling as we say our good byes to the last of the snowbirds. With that said, due to the ongoing recruiting and training of year round residents, there are an increasing number of members that will continue to play throughout the summer.

The positive energy, support and feedback from the members this season have been very much appreciated by the Board and pickleball membership in general.

A survey will be sent out towards the end of the summer to assist the Board regarding: preferred play times, court allocations / management, feedback on what is working and what’s not, and most importantly, an opportunity for members to provide suggestions to help us improve. How well the club functions is everyone’s responsibly, so please participate in the survey when it comes out. Everyone’s opinion matters and this will be your chance to shine! 

Unknown to much of the membership, there have been lots of behind the scenes / off court activities such as,  liaisons with various governing bodies, our membership, and the community to keep projects on track, as well as providing court maintenance and ensuring fair court time.

We are still in communication with the municipality regarding our petitioned requests for boundary clarification, bathrooms and additional land for future expansion. The plan is to build up the area where we enter the alley way to the courts and develop a spacious shaded bench area before next winter.

The Kids Learn To Program is on point. Balls are here and 100 paddles will be delivered to us in August so we can start wrapping handles and getting them ready for when the kids get back to school. We have a small team of coaches ready to work with the teachers and kids. How exciting is that?

Fortunately for the club, some of our Board members reside in the area full time and will continue to monitor the courts and keep the momentum going on our projects, while the rest head elsewhere.

In closing, I would like to give a heart felt thank you to everyone who supported the Board and its efforts this year to create a positive space to bond as friends and enjoy playing the game of pickleball. To my fellow Board members, your commitment of time, energy and “get it done” attitude was outstanding!
